The Taos Winter Wine Festival continues to attract some of the world’s best wineries and has announced an exciting 32nd annual schedule for February 1st thru 4thwith 40 world-class wineries and 24 great Taosrestaurants serving tastes and hosting events.One of the unique features of the intimate Taos Winter Wine Festival is that the winemaker or owner of the winery attends and pours for you. We are excited to announce two new attendees this year — Robert Sinskey and Steve Matthiasson — two of Napa Valley’s iconic winemakers who will join forces on Saturday afternoon prior to the Grand Tasting for a Napa Seminaron unique Napa wines you might not have had the opportunity to taste.Also new this year is winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson, son of Ravenswood founder Joel Peterson (a longtime TWWF attendee) who makes wine at his Bedrock Wine Company, a Sonoma-based winery producing heritage Zinfandels and Syrahs. Morgan will join forces with Jake Bilbro, winemaker-owner of the historic Limerick Lane winery, for a old vine Sonoma Zinfandel & Syrah Seminar on Saturday afternoon.Also new this year are vintner-owners Cushing Donelan of Donelan Family Wines and Kurt Beitler of Boheme. The new winery attendees join a stellar lineup of returning winemakers including Scot Bilbro of Marietta, Michael Etzel Jr. of Beaux Freres, Bill and Dawnine Dyer, David Gates of Ridge Vineyards, Nate Klostermann of Argyle, Rene Schlatter of Merryvale, Evan Martin of Martin Woods, Kent Rosenblum of Rockwall, Todd Anderson of Anderson Conn Valley, Peter Rosback of Sineann and more.All of these winemakers and more will be pouring at two events you won’t want to miss – The Reserve Tasting at El Monte Sagrado Resort in the town of Taos on Thursday February 1st and the Grand Tasting at the Taos Ski Valley Resort Center on Saturday February 3rd.We are excited about two new on-mountain guest chef luncheon events this year. Joseph Wrede, A Food & Wine Magazine Top Chef, has a long history in Taos (Joseph’s Table) and Santa Fe (Joseph’s Culinary Pub) with preparing great lamb and will roast a whole lamb on the mountain at Chair 4 on Friday February 2nd and serve it with new Spanish Wines presented by Chris Barnes, GM of Jose Pastor Selections. On Saturday afternoon James Beard semi-finalist for Rising Star of the Year 2017, Colin Shane of Arroyo Vino in Santa Fe, will serve his delectable fried chicken with wines presented by the “young squires of Willamette Valley” – Nate of Argyle, Mike Etzel Jr. of Beaux Freres and Evan Martin of Martin Woods.
